The grange hotel in the small and beautiful town of Ooty can be described as a multi cultural architecture. We asked the owners to narrate the story of how they started this hospitality business. We were surprised to know the place where we are sitting and having discussion was a British Bungalow owned, by a musician named Wallace Mysquith in 1860. A place where music, theatre, opera rehearsals and music from accordion was so common. Through time it changed hands and it became a British Army cottage and then in the free India, many owned it. Finally it came in the hands of Nishaanth and Poojitha. We were asked to capture this story and the time through the identity.

What could be a better way to design a logo than going back to the technique of 1860 itself. Wood carving and tone rendering method. It was not much about the technique, but the fact that the bungalow had a story to tell. And like in the good old days when there was no photography, they documented everything through paintings and sketches. We did the same.
The Grange Hotel during summer is always booked full. People who visit the Grange get a tour of their vintage cars collection, lots of stories, a tour of Ooty on bicycles and definitely the oldest bakery and church in Ooty. In a town which is also known as little London, where every other hotels are moving towards a modern appeal, the Grange still tries to bring people together with it’s rich branding and stories. The raving reviews by customers is a proof of how stories if told right there is a child in us willing to listen.
